What does ORGANIC mean?

The word "Organic" refers to the method by which a product is produced. Organic food production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes the "tilth" or fertility of the soil.

Organic products are grown without the use of synthetic herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers. This does not mean that no herbicides, fertilizers, or pesticides are used at all, but that the use of naturally derived forms are acceptable if they leave no harmful residues in the plant, on the plant, or in the soils.

Genetically modified organisms and seeds are specifically prohibited from use in organic agriculture.
