Willow Wind Organic Farms is an organic farming company based in Washington State, incorporating the expertise of many farmers in many places to assure the finest organic product available today.
The variety of growing conditions offers our customers stability in supply and allows WWOF to offer our farmers a rotation of crops beneficial to soil fertility, pest management, weed control, and profitability.
Today at our offices we have 13 fulltime employees: Steve, Margaret, Robin, Jim, Tim, Gina, Mark, Rick, Angie, Wylie, Cory, Camille, & Dave.
Steve is the big guy; he has been growing potatoes since he was a little guy. He was raised as a military kid and moving from place to place was what you did. In every new place Steve grew a garden, and always a potato or two, from Florida to Alaska (no kidding). As a young man, Steve was well known for his organic garden, producing enormous amounts of vegetables. He froze, canned, and dried the abundance that was not eaten fresh and began to establish the foundations for production and to research the varieties we use today.
A family was the next step and we all grew along together -- Margaret Ann and five children -- we all became farmers. Steve is totally committed to the excellence of organic farming and to the health of the earth as well as the inhabitants thereof. He has participated in the establishing of the organic certification criterion for the state of Washington, and has never wavered in his pursuit of the highest standards for his own products and the practical excellence of others. Steve has developed this new line of IQF products with a goal …the availability of organic food to everyone. He is striving to keep the costs down and offer these quality foods at real prices without the "Health Food" mark up. Uncompromising quality and integrity to offer nature's perfect food to you.
Margaret Ann (left) is more of a gardener and mom than a marketer but she knows this place and the processes of organics first hand and so is the logical choice for the marketing position. She was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and has always loved nature. Marrying Steve was a real blessing and farming has become second nature to her, right along side Steve. She does the shopping and understands the way a consumer chooses each item and usually why products work or don't. She loves great food, and meeting people is her favorite part of the job. Travel and product research just ice her cake. She still loves MOTOWN.
Tim Johnson (above, right) is our Quality Control & Manager and has been with us since 1997. Tim has been intimately involved in managing the processing of our frozen organic vegetables. He is extremely talented in pinpointing production problems and responding to them methodically to keep things running smoothly insuring quality at its peak. He is currently preparing for the new crops, researching production technology, visiting processing facilities, and setting the groundwork for the year ahead. Tim is married with two children. He has a fine sense of humor and keeps us all on our toes.
Igor Babak is our deluxe Ukrainian Farmhand. He is always working, and is growing 400 acres of organic alfalfa on our home farm for sale this year. Igor can operate anything. He is precise, intelligent, and careful. I think that I have never seen him without a smile. We are fortunate to have him on our team. He has a family of five now, with the recent addition of a baby boy.
